Stories of Investment
I'm preaching on Luke 16:1-13 on September 18, and it's a strange and hard story for any preacher in any age to craft a message of Jesus' good news. I have to wonder what the writer of Luke's gospel was thinking when this was added to Luke's Gospel. I am truly wondering what Jesus' intent was when he told this parable (or riddle)!
In worship on September 18, the congregation where I serve will be talking about "living out investments in others to deepen relationships." We will be invited to pick one person to invest in between Sep 18-Oct 16. Over the month, I will be collecting their stories and on Sunday, Oct 16, I will share the ways we invested in the faith of Jesus as a way to participate in God's love in this good world.
You can join this holy experiment. Click on the link below. It will bring you to a form where you can share your story of investment and the changes in you and others that you experienced.
Blessings on your investment in others!
Hi, I'm Anne Hokenstad, pastor, wife, knitter, dog mom to Greta and Osa, and reader of all sorts of books. This page is space for my pondering and wondering as an ELCA parish pastor called to walk in the faith of Jesus as I walk with others.
