Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect to happen when I arrive?
- When you enter the doors, expect to be greeted and welcomed. As you enter, head up the stairs or take the elevator to the worship space, where our ushers will hand you a bulletin. Enter the sanctuary and grab a seat anywhere you like.
What are our worship services like?
- The 8:00 am, First Word worship service, is a traditional Lutheran, hymn-based service utilizing organ and piano. Our Journey worship, at 10:15 am, is a modern service with a variety of musical styles. In the summer, we have one service at 9:00 am.
What is the typical attire?
- At American Lutheran, all are welcome. Come as you are!
Are Children welcome in worship?
- Yes! There are tons of options for kids to join worship. We believe worship is a laboratory where we all learn, experiment, and try new things. Kids are welcome to join us, help lead, or to find other ways to engage.
- The Sensory Space is a place for young worshippers who need a space to fidget (Located in the Sanctuary).
- The Holy Hub is a place for creatives who want to draw, color, create, and engage with worship (Located at the back of the Sanctuary).
- Busy Bags help your kids engage in worship while in their seats. We encourage students to grab a bag and bring it to their chairs. (Located at the entrances of the Sanctuary).
What happens between services?
- During the school year, we offer a variety of activities, including Coffee Hour, Sunday School, Youth Programming, and Adult Education. Check your bulletins to see the many options available.
What options do you have for youth?
- There are a variety of programs at ALC for youth. On Wednesday nights, we offer worship, confirmation, a community meal, and programming for 5th-12th graders. Our Ignite program happens on Wednesdays for Kindergarten through 4th grade. Throughout the month, we offer a variety of options for youth to engage, have fun, learn, and grow! Check the bulletin or the calendar for more information.
Where do I park?
- We have parking lots on the south side and the east side of the building. There is also plenty of on-street parking. Valet parking is available, upon request, under the canopy at door A, where our greeters will meet you and offer assistance.
